Private Alpha · Quick Start

Up and running in ten minutes.

From download to your first citation in Word. You need macOS 14 or later, Microsoft Word for Mac version 16 or later (Microsoft 365 or Word 2021/2019), and the licence key from your invitation email.

1

Install

  1. Download the app (link in your invitation email, or on the homepage after entering your licence email), unzip, and drag LitArbi.app into Applications.
  2. First launch only: right-click the app → Open → Open. Alpha builds aren’t yet notarized with Apple, so a plain double-click is blocked by macOS once.
2

Activate

Enter the email you applied with and your licence key (LITARBI-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). Your licence covers two Macs.

3

Create your matter

The intake wizard sets the jurisdiction (international arbitration, German or Swiss litigation…), your party side, the numbering style (C-1 / K 1 / Beilage 1) and the citation format. Change anything later under Matter › Case Settings.

4

Import your documents

  • Drag files or folders onto the document list (or click Import).
  • Review names and dates; if files already carry numbers (Anlage K 1 …, Exhibit C-101 …), LitArbi detects them — check the No. column.
  • Everything stays local on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded.
5

Install the Word add-in

  1. Quit Word completely (⌘Q).
  2. In LitArbi: Settings › Word Add-in › Install / Update Word Add-in.
  3. macOS asks you to confirm Word’s Startup folder once — click Select.
  4. Reopen Word: a LitArbi tab appears in the ribbon.
6

Cite

  1. Open your submission in Word and place the cursor.
  2. In LitArbi, select an exhibit and click Cite — or use Insert Citation in Word’s LitArbi tab for the search picker.
  3. An exhibit earns its number on first citation. First citation long (Anlage K 1, Kaufvertrag vom 5. Mai 2020), later ones short (Anlage K 1).
  4. Reordered the document? Update Exhibits renumbers by order of appearance and refreshes the List of Exhibits.
  5. Citations are clickable — each one opens its exhibit. When you produce a Bundle, they re-point to the bundled PDFs as relative links, so save the submission next to the bundle folder and the links travel with it.
  6. German litigation: Exhibit › Insert Evidence Offer (Beweis) inserts the two-line Beweisantritt.
Before filing: work on a copy and use Clean to strip document metadata. Your citation links survive filing as normal hyperlinks — only if your e-filing portal insists on static text, use Plain Text to flatten the citation fields.

When something breaks

It’s an alpha — something will. Help › Report a Bug sends us your report with an optional diagnostic log. Ideas go to Help › Request a Feature, or email feedback@litarbi.app.

Alpha caveats: keep your original files; back up with File › Export Matter… before big reorganisations. Updates arrive automatically — LitArbi › Check for Updates.
